About (SAGA)
A brief history of the Skeena Angling Guides Association (SAGA)
The Association came about as a Committee of the Terrace & District Chamber of Commerce when Doug McLeod President and Chairman Bob Park wrote a letter to all the guides in the area to attend a special meeting on April 5, 1986 to discuss the formation of the Committee. The Guides in attendance accepted Gordon Judzentus as their first Chairman after he volunteered to take on the position.
On May 3, 1988 the Committee passed a motion to break away from the Chamber and form its own Association. The Chamber was pleased with the move as their original goal was to assist the guides in forming their own autonomous Association.
The Association members decided on the current name after discussing a number of name options, including "North West Guiding Association". The members felt that this name would be to confusing because of the number of organizations and business's that have the name "North West".
The Association put together a constitution along with a set of bylaws . The original Association included both Fresh Water Guides and Salt Water Charter Operators.
